The 50th drop top Ferrari has arrived in the form of the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, the latest entry in the prancing horses special series cars. The new roof consists of a folding hard top setup, that like the 488 Spider and 458 Spider before it, lets full noise of the V8 in the back be heard. That twin turbo V8 is the same multi award winning engine from the regular 488 Pista, pumping out 711 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, and 770 Nm of torque from 3,000 rpm.
As is usual with removing the top off a car, extra weight is gained through the need to strengthen the chassis. The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider has put on 100 kilograms extra over the coupe, with it’s weight now topping out at 1,380 kg. Despite this, Ferrari is claiming 0-100 kph is unchanged at 2.85 seconds with 0-200 kph coming up in 8 seconds. The top speed also remains unchanged for the 488 Pista Spider with 340 kph (211 mph) attainable.
