Audi is now offering a new Audi R8 V10 Spyder 2018 model with rear wheel drive, instead of the usual all-wheel drive, further diversifying the brands line-up. The removal of the all-wheel drive running gear has produced a weight saving of up to 50 kg, further cementing the cars performance capabilities. The Audi R8 V10 Spyder 2018 will be a limited edition run, with 999 units produced globally. Each car made will feature a dashboard emblem “1 of 999,” indicating the limited number of units.

I have a favourite thing I do when I get in a Lamborghini. I put my little finger on top of the steering wheel and span my hand to the ceiling. It’s about 4-5 inches. Yet the windscreen is about 4-5 feet deep. You’re looking out through a slot, basically. That may make it sound as if visibility is woeful, but in actual fact it’s not bad. The scuttle is low, the A-pillars plunge forwards and away, and you see enough earth and sky to get by pretty happily.
But sitting in the Aventador S is an event in itself and, seat aside, the driving position is great. The wheel pulls way out of the dash, you pull the door down to close it, stare out through the slot, flick up the cover on the start button, feel and hear this mighty beast fire up behind and well, life feels pretty good at that moment.

Lamborghini Huracan

The replacement for the Gallardo, Lamborghini’s most successful ever car, with over 14,000 sold since 2003. That gives the Huracan a suitably mountainous task, one that Lamborghini has chosen to tackle by playing against type and taking a safe option. The Huracan is no radical reimagining of the modern supercar. There are no hybrid systems here, for instance. In fact what there is, is familiarity. The 5.2-litre V10 is carried over, albeit heavily reworked, and it’s still positioned in the middle of the car and drives all four wheels. Unless you opt for the latest entry-level LP580-2 model, which is rear drive only.
There’s a new seven speed dual-clutch gearbox and an all new chassis, partially constructed of carbon, that’s 50 per cent stiffer than the Gallardo’s. Is that enough to return Lambo’s ‘entry-level’ super car to the top of the class above the brilliant Ferrari 488 and McLaren 650S?
Weight distribution is biased 40% at the front / 60% at the rear, reducing inertia on the front axle. An entirely new power management set-up, encompassing modified suspension, new steering set-up and re calibrated stability and traction controls connects the driver as directly as possible with the road.

The engine unleashes 670 cv at 8,000 rpm along with 760 Nm of maximum torque in seventh gear and a response time to the accelerator of just 0.8 seconds at 2,000 rpm. These figures are sufficient to allow the Ferrari 488 GTB to accelerate from 0-200 km/h in an astonishing 8.3 seconds and, when combined with the radical innovations introduced on all aspects of the car’s performance, lap the Fiorano track in just 1’23”.
